Scotland Calling!
Scotland Calling, a weak attempt to play on the famous song London Calling by the Clash, but there is nothing weak about a week (or more) in Scotland.
Scotland is the Home of the Home of Golf. A lot of “homes” but it is one of the great pilgrimages for all golfers – St Andrews. With 7 golf options, including the famous Old Course as part of the St Andrews Links Trust, you could build a vacation around that one town and never have to leave the city limits.
No doubt that would be a great vacation but there is so much more to this great golf and travel destination and we will begin to explore it with you today. In this month’s issue we will:
We've been excited to talk with many of you recently and begin planning your trips for 2021 and beyond (we have even spoken with 1 group about a trip in 2025!). We are all starting to get excited about once again travelling to great golf destinations like Scotland and we look forward to helping you make that overseas, or Canadian, golf adventure come to life in 2021.
There is still a lot of uncertainty around travel as we move into 2021 but we are working closely with both clients and suppliers to ensure we have plans, and back up plans, in place so you can confidently book your 2021 trips knowing we are there to support you.
Talking golf, and golf travel, is our great passion so call us anytime and we would be more than happy to share that passion with you.
In the meantime, stay safe, stay healthy and enjoy this months newsletter.

- Share TJ’s conversation with Ru Macdonald from the European Tour about all things Northern Scotland, and a few of his European Tour stories.
- Our October destination guide will focus on Northern Scotland, home of some great golf, great distilleries, and maybe even a lake monster….
- Our Hole of the Month will be in the north of Scotland as well as we explore the 9th Hole at Cruden Bay Golf Club, often called the most scenic holes in all of Scotland.
- We will also share the winner of our first ever Golf Away Tours Major Pool (The U.S. Open) and give a sneak peak at next months big pool event – The Masters.
- October is also the last month to take advantage of our Early Bird Discount for our 2022 Open Experience trip and with the early bird discounts, plus the limited rooms left, you will want to get your name in soon if you at all considering joining TJ on this once in a lifetime experience.

TJ's chat with Ru Macdonald
Social Media Content Manager - The European Tour
This month, TJ had a chance to speak with Ru Macdonald and the conversation was all around golf in the Northern Scotland area.
Ru, who works for the European Tour plus hosts a very successful golf podcast, lives in the Northern Scotland area and is a member of Cruden Bay Golf Club. This, combined with the extensive golf travels he has done, gives him a unique perspective on the golf in the rugged north of Scotland, including some background on this months hold of the month - the 9th hole at Cruden Bay.
From Aberdeen to Dornoch (and a few hidden gems in other regions as well), join Ru and TJ on a tour of this memorable golf destination and a few great stories about his life on the European Tour.

Destination Guide
Northern Scotland
The Highlands really is the Scotland of your imagination. Think big skies, mind-blowing landscapes, superb food and hospitable people - and you've got the Scottish Highlands. There's a natural playground which begs to be explored, while the region's turbulent history has left behind some of the most beautiful and romantic castles in the world.
A Highlands holiday will see you get lost - not literally - in the majestic mountains and mysterious lochs. Pass through Britain's largest National Park, witness dolphins frolicking off the Moray Coast, marvel at the sensational seascape of the North Highlands, walk in the shadow of Britain's highest peak, Ben Nevis, or explore the stunning islands and stretches of coastline.
We will be exploring elements of not only the Highlands but also a couple of areas that just border what is technically considered the highlands. We will be looking at great golf destinations like Aberdeen, Inverness and Dornoch while exploring the little extras you can do after enjoying a great round of golf.
We will depart from out normal approach this month and look at type of activity (think Distilleries or Castle Tours) for the entire area vs looking at specific cities. We will give a broad range of places to visit that can easily be visited no matter which city you decide to make your base of operations and there is no doubt you will find something in the list you decide you absolutely need to do so, click below and take the tour!!

Golf Away Tours
U.S. Open Pool - Results
The inaugural Golf Away Tours Major Pool – the 2020 U.S. Open Edition, is now complete.
TJ did his best but, of course, many of you managed to pick a better team than he did (despite his impressive pic of Tony Finau) and we ended up with a large pool of winners to randomly pick the winner of our U.S. Open Pool.
We also had our bonus draw for a dozen Taylor Made TP5 Balls and a winner to announce there.
Thanks to everyone who entered our inaugural Major Pool and be sure to enter the 2020 Masters Pool, coming in November.

Hole of the Month
9th Hole at Cruden Bay
Not the most famous hole, or even golf course course, in Scotland but Cruden Bay, and specifically the the 9th hole at Cruden Bay Golf Club on the Aberdeenshire coast, would claim the award for best view in all of Scottish golf (if there was one).
Some say golf was played at Cruden Bay way back in the 18th century. An authenticated ballot box with the inscription "Cruden Golf Club 1791" exists, but Cruden Bay Golf Club wasn’t formed until more than 100 years later.
Old Tom Morris and Archie Simpson laid out the course for the Great North of Scotland Railway Company (GNSR) and it opened for play in 1899. In 1926, Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler redeveloped the layout leaving many of the original green sites and routing intact. Little has since changed.
