East Lothian
|
East Lothian is one of the best regions for golf in Scotland, with 22 courses within 30 minutes of the beautiful and historic city of Edinburgh. The region offers many of the best traditional links courses in the world as well as many lesser-known but very worthy plays.
It all starts with Muirfield, in every sense. Home to the oldest club in the world, The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, Muirfield is a consensus top 10 course in the world and multiple host venue of the British Open Championship, including 2013. Adding to the charm of Muirfield is the long standing tradition of playing 18 holes in the morning, followed by a delicious lunch and 18 holes of alternate shot in the afternoon. It truly is a one of a kind golf experience. There are many other must-plays in East Lothian, including North Berwick, a world top 100 course, the three courses at Gullane which have commanding views all the way to Edinburgh, and the sporty links at Kilspindie. |
