Portugal

Portugal has always been a wonderful place to visit for its beautiful beaches, slow pace, and old world charm. It wasn’t until the 1960’s, when courses started to be built in the Algarve, that Portugal began to be regarded as a prime golf destination.
The Algarve now has over 40 courses, many of which are considered to be amongst the best in Europe. Each enjoys a beautiful Mediterranean setting and more sunshine per year than southern California. San Lorenzo is the flagship course in the Algarve with its seaside location and naturally sandy terrain providing ideal turf for golf. Other notable courses include Vale do Lobo (Ocean and Royal), Quinta do Lago, and the Oceanico courses at Vilamoura. Closer to Lisbon, you can play Oitavos Dunes, ranked #65 in the world by Golf Magazine in 2013, or the great Praia d'El Rey, while spending some time in the capital of Portugal with its amazing architecture, history and culture, saying nothing of the incredible restaurants and nightlife. |
