TJ visits with Keith Jolly from Swing Golf Lounge We are facing a long, cold winter with limited golf opportunities in Canada (with the exception of some of you in the right area of B.C.) – but there are opportunities to golf even in other parts of the country! TJ visited, and spoke, with Keith Jolly, Vice-President at Swing Golf Lounge in Etobicoke Ontario, to learn about their state of the art facility, and covid precautions, that can get you those opportunities to swing the club over the long winter. Swing Golf will get you to far away destinations while only travelling a couple of minutes from downtown Toronto. Safety Precautions Dominican Republic and Casa de Campo In these unusual times, many of us have a pent up desire to travel - get away to just about anywhere other than our couch, especially as we look out over the long winter to come. In the article above, we looked at the Dominican Republic resort of Casa de Campo and for some of you, this may be something you are interested in for winter 2021 travel. The real question we all need to answer is how safe is travel at this time? Each individual will be making the decision based on their personal situations but we wanted to specifically highlight the precautions and protocols in place for both the Dominican Republic and Casa de Campo to provide you some resources to help make that decision. This information is pulled from a variety of sources we identify those sources so you know where the info came from and can look for alternate sources if you prefer. | TJ chats with Gilles Gagnon from Casa De Campo Resort TJ spoke with Gilles Gagnon from the stunning Casa de Campo Resort in beautiful Dominican Republic to learn about the great facilities, and covid precautions, this world class resort has to offer for the winter 2021 traveler. If getting away to the sun this winter is something that interests you follow the link below to hear TJ's chat and give us a call or you can also take a look for our Casa De Campo special offer for Golf Away Tours Clients by following this link. Hole of the Month The 3 Resort Courses at Casa de Campo Casa de Campo golf options are excellent, as there are three courses on the property, including Teeth of the Dog, Dye Four, and The Links, all of which were designed by World Golf Hall of Famer Pete Dye. Each course has a few dozen groundskeepers assigned to it, which doesn't come as a surprise -- it's hard to find a blade out of place. The signature course is Teeth of the Dog, which has won numerous awards. It is considered by some to be the best course in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world. Many holes offer spectacular sea views. It features a pro shop, a restaurant, 150 caddies, and even night golf facilities. Clinics and camps are available for guests and non-guests alike, and tournaments take place from time to time. Past competitions include the LAAC Golf Tournament, Caribbean Golf Classic, Latin America Pro Am, and the Parent-Child Tournament. |
Destination Guide
Casa de Campo
As we all look forward at a long, cold Canadian winter, it can be tempting to think “is there somewhere I can get away to and enjoy some warm, sunny weather”?
This is a time-honored tradition for Canadians although this year the Covid is making this a more difficult decision as we struggle with questions like "What is the Covid situation in the place I’m interested in? What precautions are the resorts taking? Do I need to self quarantine at the destination and / or when I return? How safe is air travel these days? Basically, is it safe for me to go?"
Each individual will be making these decisions based on their personal situations and some will decide they want to get south for a break this year. For those of you interested in going south, we have been impressed, through discussions with contacts, with the Dominican Republic as a destination focused on tourist safety and as such, we wanted to highlight Casa De Campo as our Destination Guide for November.
If you’re considering getting away this winter, or even in future years, take a look at this section to get an overview of the resort, it’s rooms, amenities and also what precautions and procedures are in place to ensure you have a safe and healthy visit.
