The 148th Open Championship took place in 2019 at Royal Portrush. It was the first Open outside of England and Scotland in 68 years. The Irish were ready for the occasion and knocked it out of the park with the organisation, the golf course, and the craic. I was so disappointed that I didn’t attend that epic event that I swore I wouldn’t miss the next big one…and I didn’t.
Not only was the city a gracious host for the conference but they also hosted us for 3 days in advance to play some of the wide variety of golf you can enjoy in this beautiful part of the US - you've even seen some of the courses on TV with the PGA and celebrity golf tour both making stops in the Reno Tahoe area .
This annual conference was originally scheduled for June 2020. It was then moved to September 2021 and ultimately got going in June 2022. Our host city, Reno Nevada, did what many of the great travel suppliers have been doing over these past 2 crazy years - they accommodated all the changes to help us finally get to what was for many of the suppliers their first face to face meetings in over two and a half years. Old friends met again, new friends were made and for 3 days we immersed ourselves in all things golf travel - it was great to have it back!
Casa de Campo offered me the opportunity to stay and play at the resort so after my amazing stay at the Iberostar, I transferred up to La Romano for a couple of nights at the resort, a definite favourite of many of our clients. I now have firsthand experience as to why it's so popular – it is amazing and like no resort I have ever ben to before.
We have highlighted this resort before so I will not go into a lot of detail (the links to our past articles are below) but I wanted to highlight a couple of impressions I had. |
