Golf in the Post Covid World
The Masters, US Open and PGA have been postponed until late summer / fall, The Open has been cancelled, our national championship, the Canadian Open has also been cancelled.
Some good news is that with the exception of Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia courses are either now open, or opening dates have been announced, with multiple restrictions.
It is safe to say this is not the golf season we all wanted or expected but it is the current reality.
The big question on all our minds around Golf Away Tours is what does the future look like across the world of golf?
This edition of our monthly newsletter will be looking at golf and what to expect in the future from different angles. What will the experience look like when we all get back on the course? What can we expect from the upcoming professional golf season? What has the impact of this been on golf travel and what can we expect in the future?
Our thoughts on these questions, plus our monthly hole of the month, are just clicks away so we hope you enjoy our thoughts and it gives you a bit of a diversion to help you get through these difficult times.
All our best wishes go out to all of you and your families and we hope you are all healthy and staying safe.

Local Golf Post Covid-19, a New Normal A beautiful June Saturday morning is dawning and it’s time for a game of golf. Your normal routine is probably to get to the course a bit early, check in, maybe hit a few balls and grab a snack or water before hopping in the cart with your buddy and heading over to the first tee (probably even before the group ahead of you has finished teeing off). Unfortunately, “normal” is not normal anymore. | Golf Travel & Covid-19 Everyone getting this newsletter is a golf, and golf travel, enthusiast and many of you have had your planned trips impacted by this virus. We are working hard on your behalf to get you re-scheduled or, in rare cases, get you refunds for your trips. Our commitment is to make sure your group is well looked after and all your concerns addressed. |
Professional Golf Post Covid-19
All sports have been impacted by Covid-19 with golf being no exception. The announcement from the PGA suspending the season after the first round of the Players was not a huge surprise, and saved TJ from a ton of embarrassment over his Tommy (78, T140 after the first round) Fleetwood pick to win, and the LPGA, Champions and European Tours all followed quickly.
Golf does feel like the most likely sport to come back quickly in a world of social distancing. We have tentative new schedules in place for all tours, and a special made for TV Tiger / Peyton vs Phil / Tom match, to look forward to but there are many questions to answer.

Hole of the Month - Dumbarnie Links

For most golfers, a pilgrimage to the Home of Golf, St Andrews, is high on their bucket list. The moment you get a first glimpse of the town you get goosebumps, and for me, the goosebumps last for my entire visit. No matter how often I visit the town, I still can’t wait to return.
The town offers so much in terms of history, with one of the oldest Universities in the world, and the ruins of a 12th Century Castle and Cathedral, and of course being the home of golf, first played on the grounds of the Old Course in the early 15th Century. In addition to the 5 courses in town, there are several championship links courses to add to a golf itinerary in the area, including Open rota venue Carnoustie, and one of the best “new” links courses in the world, Kingsbarns.
Well, now you can add one more course to your must play list when visiting St Andrews, and that’s Dumbarnie Links.
