Golf Trip Planning - The Comprehensive Guide
We hope everyone is safe and staying at home during these unusual times. Priority one is practicing social distancing to plank the curve and we encourage everyone to do their part to keep all of us safe and help shorten this pandemic in Canada.
In the meantime, we will all be going a bit stir crazy sitting around the home all day and the travel bug will dig into our minds. What better time could there be to begin getting ready for that next great golf adventure?
A virtual trip planning meeting with you and your golf travel partners is the perfect way to keep socially engaged, have a drink and laughs with friends plus plan that next big adventure you can all start looking forward going on in the near future.

Step 1 – Getting Started Last month we touched on planning for a golf trip to Ireland and shared our #1 tip for a successful trip: Plan and book early – much earlier than you might think necessary! We highlighted how more and more golfers are making the pilgrimage to the golf mecca of Ireland and how this influx of golf thrill seekers is making it critical you think ahead to get everything you want out of your Irish experience. This is great advice for not only Ireland but quite frankly for any of your dream golf destinations. Remember, if you consider it a dream to play Pebble, visit St Andrews, the home of golf, or escape Canadian winter to play Teeth of the Dog it is likely there are thousands of others with the same dream as you. This leads to our #2 top tip for planning a successful golf escape: | Step 2 – Getting into the details You’ve decided on how many people are taking the trip and where you want to go - now it's time for the fun part!!! We know when and where – now what?!?!?!? Now we are getting into important details and we recommend looking at your trip using the following 3 steps, in order: There are so many options for all 3 of these key details that it can be confusing, so we put together a simple primer to help you think through what really works for your personal trip. |
The Courses of Ireland and Scotland
We have recently been getting a lot of calls from groups considering Ireland or Scotland and most want to play some combination of the “big hitters” – Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, Ballybunion Old, Lahinch and Old Head in Ireland and St Andrews, Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, Troon and Turnberry in Scotland.
These courses are on almost everyone’s golfing hit list making them hot tee times. In fact, most of them are so hot that they sell out every year.
As we have (frequently) mentioned the best way to get your courses in place is to PLAN AHEAD!!!
Hole of the Month - Amen Corner
Of course this is not one hole but a series of holes on one of the most famous courses in the world, Augusta National.
While The Masters has been postponed due to Covid-19 (no date has been announced yet but rumours are October…) this is still the time to dream golf and The Masters is always that kick off to the spring golf season.
