It is hard not to feel bad for Lexi Thompson. She is such an amazing talent and to see the tough stretch she had coming through the last few holes was heartbreaking. There is a lot more opportunities for her in the future and we have no doubt she will close on a few of those opportunities!
This was our first Women’s major pool, and we were thrilled to not only see the interest, we had almost as many entries for this pool as we had for the Masters, but also to read the comments and thanks from any of you for finally getting these great events into our pool rotation. Our next pool for the women’s majors will be The Women’s Open Championship from Carnoustie so keep an eye out for that in August!

After taking a look at the results, a few facts really stood out. First off, TJ did bounce back strong after his PGA Championship disaster (for those who forgot, 93% of pool entrants beat TJ's score in the PGA Championship Pool.). He managed a very strong 3rd place and normally that would win the office pool but, unfortunately for TJ, Ron actually came in 1st overall – another beer for Ron!
Of course, we always award the top 3 non-Golf Away Tours entrants that bonus entry but before we get to that, a couple of more fun facts:
Of course, we always award the top 3 non-Golf Away Tours entrants that bonus entry but before we get to that, a couple of more fun facts:
- Only 1 person chose Yuka Saso as the winner of the event and it was Ron (really the only reason he won given the rest of the picks were questionable at best….)
- The best possible earnings / score for the pool was $3,035,000.
- Ron had a score of $1,480,000 or 49% of best possible score.
- Our real top finisher had earnings / a score of $1,435,000 or 47% of best possible score.
- 1 more fun fact on TJ - he scored $1,185,000, a respectable 80% of the winning score and 39% of the best possible score. A good showing!
- The most popular pick in the pool was Brooke Henderson who was chosen by everyone but TJ who selected Rebecca Lee-Bentham. TJ and Rebecca go way back with TJ caddying for her and more than one occasion at big event so easy to see why he selected Rebecca, especially as he sees her game improving so much.
- Lidia Ko was the most popular non-Canadian pick with 57% of participants choosing her.
All our winners have been notified already about their wining but here is the big announcement for the rest of us:
