As always, we want to help you, the reader, to know who not to pick when you submit your majors pools so once again, TJ will be sharing his thoughts on the tournament and who he thinks will ultimately come out on top.
2021 Women’s Open Championship Preview

OK, so my men’s Open Championship pick just missed the cut, so hopefully my pick for the Women’s Open is a bit more successful.  I’m really excited to see the women tackle one of the toughest links courses in the world – and one of my personal favourites – when they compete at Carnoustie later this month.

The AIG Women’s Open is a tough tournament to handicap.  The past two winners have come out of relative obscurity to win, and created great stories in the process.  Sophia Popov in particular has used the win to springboard into one of the best players in the world.  But few remember she was ranked 304th in the world entering that Open.

So given my lack of success in picking the past few champions of majors, I contemplated throwing a dart at a wall and seeing whose name I hit, but then I couldn’t find my darts, so I went back to the drawing board.

A course like Carnoustie takes a lot of skills to master, including accuracy off of the tee, patience, great putting and of course a bit of luck.  A lot will depend on the weather and how the competitors handle windy conditions if they occur.  I think the course sets up well for veterans to succeed and for that reason I am picking Inbee Park to win.  She’s very accurate off of the tee and is widely considered to be the best putter in the game, so I like her chances.

Of course we’re all hoping for great things from Brooke this time around and I hope she can improve on her past showings in this event.  She has only finished in the top 40 once previously, but perhaps that changes this year!  Enjoy watching!
