As always we want to help you, the reader, to know who not to pick when you submit your majors pools so once again, TJ will be sharing his thoughts on the tournament and who he thinks will ultimately come out on top. He has already been complaining he had to write this too far in advance (like that would have made a big difference!!)
There is definitely some great insight to be gained by taking a look at these previews - how you use them is up to you!

PGA Championship - Kiawah Island - Ocean Course The 2021 PGA Championship returns to Kiawah Island, 9 years after Rory McIlroy ran away with the same tourney on the same course in 2012. With Rory's recent win at Quail Hollow, he has to be near the top of anyone's betting sheet, and I have to believe he'll be in contention again this year. However, he's not my top pick. Rory is a high ball hitter, so the wind isn't his friend, and it's typically windier in May at Kiawah than it is in August, which is when the 2012 PGA was played. |
My pick for this year's PGA is Jordan Spieth. He has had a resurgence in 2021 and only needs the PGA Championship to complete the career Grand Slam. Hailing from Texas, Jordan has always played well in the wind. He also has one of the best short games in golf, which will come in handy around the small, elevated Pete Dye greens at Kiawah.
My dark horse this year is Cameron Smith, who has been playing well and is due for a breakout victory.

US Women's Open - The Olympic Club- Lake Course
The women head to San Francisco this year for the US Women's Open, to be played on the beautiful Lake Course at Olympic Club, a place that has held several majors over the years.

My sentimental pick as always is Brooke Henderson, and with a recent victory, she's poised to win her second major at Olympic Club. Her ball striking is second to none, so all she needs is a semi-hot putter to be in contention. |
My other pick to win is So Yeon Ryu, a former World No 1 who has regained her form recently and I predict she will win her second US Open, 10 years after her initial major championship win at the Broadmoor in Colorado. |
Whoever is in contention, I'll enjoy watching the women tackle a great course in their biggest tournament of the year.
