Men's Open Championship Pool Results and Fun Facts

The Master's scoreboard again but no travel, no new pictures!!

Colin Morikawa put on an amazing show with one of the best driving performances we've seen in the final round of a major and combined that with clutch putting - a pretty good combination to say the least.

While no one actually selected Colin from his box (hard to disagree with DJ, Justin, John Rahm and Xander in the same box) 3 more people still won bonus entries in the "Win a trip to Ireland" contest and improved their chances of joining TJ, Natasha and Lorne in Ireland in the fall of 2022.
Fun facts about the pool

It didn’t seem possible for TJ to do any worse than when 93% of entrants that beat him on the PGA Championship pool and 90% of entrants beat him in the US Open but TJ has always been an overachiever and he crushed that dubious mark in the Open Championship pool:

97% of pool entrants beat TJ's score in the PGA Championship Pool!!!

Even more impressive this month is that TJ’s not quite 3-year-old son Julian put in picks for the first time and beat TJ!

A couple of other fun facts:
  • The best possible earnings / score for the pool was $5,280,119
  • Our top finisher had earnings / a score of $3,504,780 or 66% of best possible score!
  • The most popular pick in the pool was Tommy Fleetwood with 74% of participants selecting him.
  • TJ scored $582,063 (17% of winners total and 11% of max total) with his picks that he saved in the pool folder under the file name – “TJ’s winning picks”
  • TJ’s son Julian beat over half of the pool, including Ron, so he is the reigning Golf Away Tours office pick champion!

All our winners have been notified already about their wining but here is the big announcement for the rest of us:
  • 1st place and 6 bonus entries into the “Win a Trip to Ireland Contest” = Gills Hamel
  • 2nd place and 4 bonus entries into the “Win a Trip to Ireland Contest” = Marc Laverdiere
  • 3rd place and 2 bonus entries into the “Win a Trip to Ireland Contest” = Gary Peitzsche

Thanks again to all who entered the contest and keep an eye out for our last pool of the year as we turn our focus to the Women’s Open Championship. Look for entry information August 16th in your email.
