The Lakes Golf Club
Opened: 1928
Designers: Geoff Ogilvy & Mike Clayton
Par: 72
Length: 6,920 yards
Since its major renovations in 2005 The Lakes has been viewed as a championship venue each year since. It has hosted the Men's Australian Open from 2010 to 2012, as well as various other staple tournaments such as the Australian PGA Championship. The $14 million dollar revamp done by Ogilvy Clayton Design went into every aspect of the property and most notably went towards a brand new modern clubhouse.
The club is located just outside of Sydney and its design rivals that of most sand belt courses in Australia; considered to be a classic mix of old fashioned and modern design that can play easier or harder depending on weather conditions. With 96 sand traps, dozens of sand wastelands, and tons of water hazards, no ball is safe on this historic golf course.
