Valderrama is Robert Trent Jones Sr.’s most-famous European design, but Sotogrande was his first, notably in close proximity to the Alboran Sea and benefitting from the beautiful body of water as a backdrop to multiple holes. Small, difficult green complexes demand a putting performance from everyone, including the best at 1998-2001’s European Tour Qualifying Finals, but for those visiting, a playable golf course with tees ranging from 5,000 to 6,800 yards awaits.
