Royal Liverpool
Opened: 1869
Designer: George Morris / Harry S. Colt
Par: 72
Length: 7,218 yards
Founded in 1869, Hoylake is the second oldest seaside links course in England. Hoylake, as it is called by those in the know, has a long history of playing host to the Open, having hosted 11 times, most recently in 2006.
The course appears relatively flat, however when you're out on the course the undulations become evident and the holes near the shore (9th, 10th, 11th and 12th) are stunning and a great challenge.
Royal Liverpool is a difficult links worthy of its championship status. There is nothing quirky about the course, it simply represents a traditional test of golf. In 2014, the Open Championship returns to Royal Liverpool Golf Club.
