Portstewart
Opened: 1894
Designer: Des Giffin
Par: 72
Length: 7,305 yards
Portstewart Golf Club was founded in 1894, but has undergone great change culminating in 7 new holes laid out in the dunes which opened in the early 1990's. Although often overshadowed by nearby Royal Portrush, Portstewart more than holds its own as a fantastic links experience. Set amidst imposing, gigantic sand dunes with panoramic views across the Atlantic mouth of Lough Foyle to the Inishowen peninsula beyond, Portstewart is a great test of golf with one of the best opening holes in the game.
A golfing trip to Northern Ireland would not be complete without a round on the Strand course. The members here are very warm and welcoming and if you add this course to a round at both Royal Portrush and Royal County Down, you will have played three of the world’s finest links courses.
