Barnbougle Dunes
Opened: 2004
Designer: Tom Doak & Mike Clayton
Par: 71
Length: 6,762 yards
The Dunes, Barnbougle's original course, does a fantastic job of mimicking the classic links courses of Scotland and Ireland. American Tom Doak and Australian Mike Clayton have received tremendous praise for combining the traditional style of links golf with the beautiful Australian landscape, as Tasmania's North East coast is a very unique sight for sore eyes. With fescue boardering most of the short grass, The Dunes is definitely a shot makers playground where course management and a little creativity is required on every hole.
This course is designed to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Although the fairways are wider than most traditional links style courses, low scores are protected by naturally undulating bent grass greens and well placed bunkers. Beware the largest green side sand trap in the southern hemisphere on the Par 4 4th hole.
