Host of the 2018 Irish Open, won by Scotland’s Russell Knox after besting Ryan Fox in a playoff, Ballyliffin’s newer course, open in 1995, has the benefit of playing in the dunes as if it is older than it is. The same can be said about Pat Ruddy’s architecture, which blends in seamlessly to provide a first-rate golf experience, even if it is noticeably newer than other golf courses in the area.
