After working for over 10 years as a consultant in the golf development industry, TJ decided to turn his passion for the game and for travel into a career in golf travel.
While attending Queen’s University, TJ played varsity golf and was a member of the provincial championship team in 1997, back in the days when he could hit more than 3 fairways in a round. His passion for the game has taken him to 5 different continents and 21 countries to play the game (so far!), and he appreciates all styles of courses but has a soft spot for traditional links and the golden age of golf course architecture.
TJ is still active in the competitive amateur golf scene in Ontario and is a course ranking panelist for both Golf Digest and Score Golf magazine. He currently lives in the beaches area of Toronto, and keeps busy by knocking the ball around Scarboro G&CC in the summer and curling in the winter.
After graduating at Ryerson University for Radio & Television and working in the sports media industry, Matt decided to go back to school for Sport & Event Marketing at George Brown College.
While attending George Brown, Matt did his work placement semester at Golf Away Tours, which he has since stayed on as full time staff. He has now been with Golf Away Tours for 2+ years and is always looking to expand his knowledge on the golf travel industry. While not having the same resume of golf courses played around the world as TJ, he still has a great understanding of all the destinations that we send our clients to and his passion for the game has taken him to many different golf destinations around the world.
Matt currently lives downtown Toronto and spends a lot of his summer days out in Etobicoke at St. Georges Golf & County Club where he has been a member for 17 years.
