Greg Norman's El Camaleón at Mayakoba made history in 2007 as the first golf course outside the United States and Canada to host a PGA Tour event, kicking off a fifteen-year run that produced champions like Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith, and Viktor Hovland. The course weaves through three distinct Riviera Maya ecosystems — tropical jungle, dense mangroves, and the Caribbean coast — with ancient Mayan cenotes coming into play as natural water hazards on holes like the par-3 7th and par-4 15th. With the Fairmont, Banyan Tree, and Andaz Mayakoba resorts all on the property, it remains the gold standard for Mexican resort golf.

Dye's only Mexican design, Iberostar Playa Paraiso winds dramatically through dense Yucatán jungle just south of Playa del Carmen, with the architect's trademark bold green complexes and visually intimidating bunkering set against the natural mangroves and cenotes. Opened in 2003, the course quickly became a Caribbean tournament regular, hosting the OHL Classic at Mayakoba qualifier and the Latin America PGA Tour's Mayakoba Junior Golf Classic.
