Often called "the links in the sky," Pennard plays atop the spectacular cliffs of the Gower Peninsula, 200 feet above the Bristol Channel with sweeping views of Three Cliffs Bay and the ruins of an 11th-century Norman castle right beside the course. James Braid's 1908 layout makes the most of the dramatic, undulating clifftop terrain, where wild ponies roam the fairways and the wind off the sea adds its own challenge. It's one of the most unusual and atmospheric links experiences anywhere in the British Isles.

Sitting right next door to Royal Porthcawl, Pyle & Kenfig offers an underrated and equally compelling links experience — particularly known for its back nine, often considered one of the finest stretches of links holes in Wales. H.S. Colt's 1922 design splits cleanly into two distinct halves: an opening nine of links character along the coast and a closing nine that winds dramatically through the towering Kenfig dunes. The contrast is striking, and the resulting test rewards every club in the bag with imagination and creativity.
