What a great stretch of PGA Tour golf we have been able to enjoy lately.  Since the re-start of the season, each week has produced great fields and some incredible finishes.  And now we are heading into the second major of the year on one of the best courses in the North-East, Winged Foot.  I’ll be excited to watch the tournament played on a great A.W. Tillinghast course, as I’m a member of his only Canadian golf course design, Scarboro G&CC.

The last time the course hosted the US Open was maybe the best chance that Phil Mickelson had to win the tournament, as he doubled the 18th to lose by 1.  Colin Montgomerie did the same, as he failed to win his only major championship.  The eventual winner was Geoff Ogilvie from Australia.
As is typical for a US Open layout, ball striking will be key.  The bombers that hit is as far as possible may not fare as well, so there’s no way I’m taking Bryson DeChambeau to win (of course that likely means you should put money on him given my history this year of picking winners!).

It’s hard to go against the hottest players in the world right now including Dustin Johnson, and I would expect Collin Morikawa to have another good week, but I’m going to go out on a limb and pick Tony Finau to exorcise his Sunday deamons and pull out his first big win.

My long shot for the week is Daniel Berger, who has been playing some very consistent golf lately and should be in the mix on the weekend.

No matter what this is sure to be a great weekend of golf and don't forget to add to the excitement by joining the Golf Away Tours 2020 U.S. Open Pool where, just by beating me, you can win a great Golf Away Tours prize pack.

Enjoy the information and thanks for the TP5 golf balls on the St. Andrews story. Tried to enter the contest but clicking on the bar does not appear to work. Pick is Xander Schauffele
